Monarch on the milkweed!

Having left a weedy front yard with 20 plus milkweed plants, and moved to a condo; I've been missing the idea of seeing butterflies this year.  The first week of July I finally bought one native milkweed plant in a pot at a local nursery.  My dilemma then was: where could I plant it where landscapers wouldn't weed-wack it! So I re-potted it instead in a larger container and set it in the sun near my deck.

This morning as I was drinking coffee, taking in the breeze, planning the day, an orange blur fluttered past! This gorgeous Monarch zeroed in on my lone milkweed plant and spent around 20 minutes investigating every leaf. Nothing like some unexpected nature to make your day!

I'm hoping eggs were laid and we might see a caterpillar or two later in the season!
